Land of the Rising Sun
Living and working in Japan was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. As a travel photographer, I was constantly surrounded by an abundance of inspiring moments waiting to be captured. Despite Tokyo's population being on par with the entire U.K., there were times when I felt isolated from the world—separated from my family, friends, and all the familiar comforts of home. In those moments, I felt like an outsider, almost invisible, like a fly on the wall. Yet, this sense of detachment wasn’t necessarily a negative thing. In fact, it offered me a newfound freedom—freedom to be self-indulgent, to make my own choices, and to chart my own path. Throughout my time there, my camera became my closest companion. It reignited my passion for photography, which had waned over the years while working in my home territory. The unique experiences and breathtaking scenes I encountered in Japan breathed new life into my work and reminded me of why I fell in love with photography in the first place.
